Doors

Eligible exterior doors will be replaced with new 1-3/4” wood doors and ¾” solid core storm doors with aluminum or vinyl skin.

Existing commercial type, crawl space or basement bulkhead style doors are not replaced as part of the program.

Sliding doors will be wood with a durable exterior finish.

Secondary hinged storm doors are constructed from a solid core particleboard with an aluminum veneer face with a half or full-lite fixed glazed panel.

Secondary sliding doors are constructed of aluminum.

Windows

Eligible exterior windows will be replaced with noise reducing acoustically rated vinyl or wood windows. Existing commercial type, storefront or glass block windows are not replaced as part of the program. Homeowner’s selection must be limited to a single window type per residence. (i.e., a homeowner cannot choose vinyl windows for the front and wood windows for the back).

Air-conditioning

The existing air-conditioning system for each participating dwelling will be evaluated for possible replacement or upgrade. Based upon FAA Program Guidelines, the addition of central air-conditioning and associated treatments are eligible as part of the acoustical treatment protocol in order for program participants to maintain a quiet interior environment without opening their windows and doors for ventilation.
