Spring Break 2017 Travel Advisory 

With the onset of spring breaks, Bradley International Airport will experience a 30% increase in passenger volume from April 5th through April 9th.

Kevin A. Dillon, A.A.E., Executive Director of the Connecticut Airport Authority, advises that Bradley Airport passengers should be aware and plan accordingly.

“The key during this busy travel week is to give yourself extra time and to be prepared,” says Dillon. “Our team will do everything we can to make your travel through the airport as carefree as possible.”

Passengers traveling domestically are advised to allow themselves at least 90 minutes for check in with their respective airlines and processing through the TSA screening. Those traveling internationally should give themselves three hours.

“TSA is fully prepared for the busy travel week,” said William Csontos, TSA’s Federal Security Director for Connecticut. “Our Officers are extremely dedicated, efficient and focused on the security of each passenger traveling though our system.”

Additionally, passengers are encouraged to review these helpful tools and travel tips to ensure a smooth travel experience:

  1. Confirm the status of your flight. Prior to your departure for the airport, contact your airline to check the status of your flight. Flight information is also available on Bradley Airport’s website, www.flybdl.org. Twitter users can also tweet their flight number @BDLFlightInfo to receive real-time flight information.
  2. Familiarize yourself with Bradley Airport’s parking options. Bradley Airport offers several parking options within a short distance from the terminal. Free shuttle service is provided from the surface lots. Automated easy access and departure through the cashier-less lanes is available.   3. Speed up the TSA screening process. Review TSA guidelines ahead of time and come prepared.
    1. Prepare for security. Have a valid ID and boarding pass readily available, and remove large electronics, including laptops and liquids bag from carry-on baggage. Avoid over packing your carry-on bag. Consider checking bags when feasible.
    2. Follow the liquids rule. Liquids, gels, aerosols, creams and pastes must be 3.4 ounces or less and all containers must fit inside a single quart-size plastic bag and be placed in a bin for carry-on baggage screening. This includes sun block and tanning lotions.

Travelers or families of passengers with disabilities and/or medical conditions may call the TSA Cares helpline toll free at 855-787-2227 at least 72 hours prior to flying with any questions about screening policies, procedures and what to expect at the security checkpoint as well as arrange for assistance at the checkpoint.
